Helpful info for visitors & supporters
This section covers common questions about visiting the farm, participating in programs, and getting involved. Details may change seasonally, so check back or reach out if you need more information.
Q: How can I, or someone I know, become a 21 Roots Farmer?
Our programs are specifically for those with an intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) diagnosis. We intentionally keep our programs small to ensure our time and attention stays very focused. If you or someone you know would be a good candidate, please complete the interest form!
Once we recieve your completed form, you’ll be on our list and we’ll contact you when we have an opening. The next step will be an intake process that includes information gathering and a meet & greet. Then they’ll participate in the program on a trial basis. If all goes well, they can join our awesome team of Farmers!
Q: Can I visit the farm? If so, when?
We are not open to the public all the time, but yes, there are times when you can visit! We hold community events throughout the year for that very reason and we also have a variety of programs that families can participate in.
The main reason we are not open to the public on a daily basis, is the safety of our farmers. A drop-in visit means a staff member is taken away from their main role, working with our farmers to host a visitor. In order to keep our focus on our farmers, we ask that visitors join us at events and family-centered learning programs.
Q: How can I purchase 21 Roots products?
Our all-natural, farmer-made products can be purchased at seasonal farm events and community gatherings.
Q: Are there other farms like 21 Roots?
Most definitely! 21 Roots Farm is part of the Care Farming Network, a group of farms across North America that uses therapeutic farming to promote health, well-being and belonging.
