Our impact

What grows here lasts

Impact at 21 Roots Farm isn’t measured by a single outcome or timeline. It’s reflected in growing confidence, emerging independence, and a deepening sense of belonging, often in ways that are quiet, personal, and profoundly meaningful.

Each individual arrives with their own strengths, goals, and support needs. Growth looks different for every farmer, and that individuality is at the heart of our work.

What impact means at 21 Roots Farm

At 21 Roots Farm, impact is about more than participation. Through meaningful work, supportive routines, and strong peer relationships, Farmers build confidence, autonomy, and leadership at their own pace.

Choice is central to every experience, ensuring each person feels respected, included, and empowered to engage in ways that feel right for them.

No two journeys look the same, and each of these moments reminds us that growth isn’t about comparison or speed. It’s about recognizing each person as they are, and honoring who they are becoming.

Stories of growth

Growing independence through community

One Farmer’s growing confidence led to a meaningful shift in his life when he no longer required one-on-one support while working at the farm. This milestone wasn’t achieved alone. His peers played an essential role, intentionally supporting one another and ensuring everyone felt included in activities, whether they chose to participate or observe.

This shared sense of care and responsibility is a powerful part of farm life and a key driver of independence.

Discovering Leadership and Purpose

One of our Farmers expanded her world beyond the farm when she enrolled in Bethel University’s two-year certificate program. She now serves as a tour guide for incoming students! Her confidence and pride were unmistakable as she shared her college experience during one of the most memorable tours we’ve ever taken.

Her journey reflects what’s possible when confidence, opportunity, and self-belief come together.

Building skills that transfer beyond yhe farm

Through the Agricultural Institute, another member of our farming community expanded her role by assisting with Monday Cooking Classes. She helps plan recipes, prepare meals, and guide her peers as they develop kitchen and cooking skills.

These experiences build leadership, communication and practical life skills, while reinforcing that learning on the farm carries into everyday life.
